PROUD TO BE RAJBANSHI
Often I think of identity crisis of Rajbanshi speaking people. Question arises as to whether these people really feel proud to be Rajbanshi who had a brilliant history(Albeit, kept in obscurity for socio-political reasons) or just they are shying away leaving their identity too, in obscurity.
Don't you think most of their literate and elite lot are shying away from coming to limelight. Aren't they afraid of coming in front of the media? In public, only handful of Rajbanshis are fighting for their rights and establish their identity If that be the case, why I should talk about Rajbanshi Pride? Going by the general trend, it is clear that people of Rajbanshi origin are on the verge of extinction. In this path of their suicidal path, people of other communities are sympathetic but non-committal. others are not going to spoon feed them to ask their just rights. These people have to help themselves. Then, what should Rajbanshis do? Should they be allowed to become extinct or get absorbed in another communities? That is not the solution. Other communities are not going to accept them as their own. Thus, stake is high; question is not being communal because helping a downtrodden and hapless community is not communal, abetting their extinction is communal. Now question is how to awaken the Rajbanshi speaking people? How to ignite their mind and arouse their sleeping spirits? It gives me immense pleasure to know that number of Rajbanshi literates are now taking interest in social networking. Thanks to social networking sites such as LinkedIn Facebook, Blog spot, Tweeter etc. It indicates the word Rajbanshi is no more an untouchable one. It also indicates that they take pride in being Rajbanshi. Number of Rajbanshi writers are authoring books in Rajbanshi language. Dr. Girija Shankar Ray has been conferred Sahitya Acadeny award for his valuable contribution in Rajbanshi literature about two years ago. I think, creating a sense of pride in being Rajbanshi is in work. A great future is in sight for them unless some political road block comes and stops their progress. If that be the case, they have to take the the route of politics. In fact, in a democratic like ours, Rajbanshis too must take interest in politics and come forward in the state governance. These people must remember the dictum of democracy, "People like to get governed by their own people". Come one - Come all - say, "PROUD TO BE RAJBANSHI SPEAKING PEOPLE".
