HARMFUL DIVIDE BETWEEN RAJBANSHIS AND KOCH-RAJBANSHI
What I feel that we should not blindly believe in the sayings or writings of non-Rajbanshi personalities including foreign historians, although some foreign historians tried to pen down true history of Rajbanshis . What I suggest that Rajbanshis should write their own histories themselves to being out the true happenings of the historical past.
You all will believe that Ahom rulers are being highlighted by Assamese historians and in similar way, Mughals & Muslim rulers by Bangladeshi & Bengali historians, Mauriyas & Awadh rulers by Bihari historians and Rana rulers by Nepali historians and so on. What about history of Barman, Narayani, Kamota, Koch rulers and pristine glories of Rajbanshi society during ancient, medieval India till lat century? How many Indians do know about Vishwa Veer Chilarai whose heroics can be compared with Napoleon Bonaparte, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap et al? Please do not fall prey of "Divide and Rule" policies.
If we go back to the history, we all Rajbanshis belonged to 'Kuvach' community (Koch as described today) of Mongoloid stock and subsequently took to Hindu religion. Ruling communities became 'Kshatriyas'. Numerous tribal groups joined and became Rajbanshi during glorious days of Kamta-Koch rule. We all are Rajbanshi and our identity is Rajbanshi. But, our 'Varnas' are different. In all, most Rajbanshis are 'Kayastha' except those of royal lineage who are 'Kshatriya'. There is no 'Brahmin' and 'Shudra' officially but 'Adhikary' titled Rajbanshis have been assigned certain ''Brahmanical' work like performing certain rituals and worshiping. Certain works of 'Shudra' are assigned to 'Nowaa-Napit'(Barbers) and 'Dom' communities who are also Rajbanshi speaking people and have all the rights to call themselves as Rajbanshi.
During, 'Kshatriya Movement' of last century, question had arisen as to whether Koch Rajbanshis were different from Rajbanshis. Such question always harmed Rajbanshis but helped other mainstream people, especially political leaders. More they feel divided, more we fall behind and make our path to extinction easier. Such, divided ideas will never make you politically united.
So, dear all Rajbanshi speaking people including Muslim and Tribal, please unite as a whole 'Rajbanshi' community but keep your diverse cultures alive. I shall keep telling these words till all Rajbanshis unite and get their socio-economic, linguistic, cultural and true democratic political rights on their hands. I also believe in dictum of true democracy - "People like to be ruled by themselves".
Wishing all Rajbanshis a bright prosperous future.
